Ira and Paula Resnick LOOK G R E E N W I C H [ 094 ] On Friday, August 26, Bedford Playhouse held a star-studded benefi t show at the Harvey School called Playing for the Playhouse . Directed by Playhouse Board Chair Sarah Long and hosted by president John Farr, guests were treated to the varied talents of an incredible group of performers, including Glenn Close, Paul Shaff er, Mrs. Marvin Hamlisch, Robert Klein, Marissa McGowan, Chazz Palminteri, and Jeff rey Tambor. The Bedford Playhouse is an historic cinema located in Bedford, New York which fi rst opened its doors back in 1947. In early 2015, the theater closed and a grass roots organization was formed under the leadership of Bedford-based fi lm curator John Farr. The goal was to transform the theater into a not-for-profi t arts house cinema, cultural center and community hub, serving local residents and our neighbors in places like Greenwich and New Canaan. Plans call for three state-of-the-art theaters to feature new independent fi lms, documentaries, classics, speakers' series, small musical/theatrical performances, and educational programs. There will also be an intimate cafe serving delicious light fare at breakfast, lunch and dinner, and a bar serving beer, wine and spirits. The Bedford Playhouse will become a true cultural and social destination. But more funds are needed to make it a reality. Nearly 3.8 million has been raised to-date, but $1.5 million more is needed to start construction in late November. {Ĭ±ƼĜĹčüŅųƋĘå {Ĭ±ƼĘŅƚŸå The Bedford Playhouse seeks funds to renovate theater 01 02 03 05 04 06 09 10 07 08
